The Birla’s descended from a Marwari cloth merchant called Shiv Narain Birla. He set up a trading house in Mumbai in 1857 and thus began the illustrious line of the Birla’s. Since then, Birla have a resemblance with royalty. The Yash Birla Group is an Indian industrial conglomerate group based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Its chairman Yashovardhan Birla, is a member of the Birla family.
Shiv Narain Birla was blessed with four kids, namely, Ghanshyam Das Birla, Jugal Kishore Birla, Rameshwar Das Birla, & Braj Mohan Birla. Although the Birla’s are perceived as a single entity, they eventually began their businesses. However, they have continued to maintain a family relationship that goes back to the times when “Birla Brothers” were an actual entity.
In his early twenties, when he was pursuing Business Administration in the USA, he lost his parents Ashok and Sunanda, and his sister Sujata, in the Plane crash in 1990. Priyamvada Birla is said to have looked after the emotional care of Yash then. Sources say that he was left with nobody to explain to him the business or whatever was the correct thing to do at that time. Yash in some of his interviews has stated about his uncles who advised him about how to continue with the business. Yash eventually managed things on his own and had his way out.
Kumar Mangalam Birla is the cousin of Mr. Yash Birla.
Their kinship is brotherly and full of warmth. Kumar Mangalam and Yash Birla share the same. They have known each other since childhood and spent considerable time with each other too. Kumar Mangalam Birla and his father Aditya Birla have always had their moral support with Yash Birla, especially when he lost his parents.
