Home is heaven on earth and a family is a divine arrangement where the children blossom under the unconditional love and care of the parents and the siblings. A mother ready to take you in her arms whenever you are sad, a father to guide you whenever you are in dilemma, and your sister or brother to be your everlasting friend in good or bad times. The memories of the family become our strength as an adult. A complete family is every child’s dream…. but for Mr. Yash Birla, the chairman of Birla group of industries, the dream of a beautiful Yash Birla family turned into a nightmare as his destiny drifted his parents and sister afar to a different world not giving him a moment to think of how his life would turn into in the absence of his adorable parents and beloved sister leaving him absolutely shattered and devastated!!

It was in 1990 when

Mr. Yash Birla, in his early twenties,

was pursuing his Business Administration degree in the USA. Just like any other day, he was getting ready for college when he received a call from his aunt and uncle to rush back to India. Tensed and numbed, Mr. Yash Birla had no clue about what had happened, and alas! The heartbreaking news was that Yash lost his parents Mr. Ashokvardhan Birla and Mrs. Sunanda Birla and his sister Sujata Birla to a fatal plane crash in Bengaluru — an incident that devasts him whenever he recounts.

The utterly emotionally shattered man who had nothing left to look forward to in life had a ray of hope in the form of his soulmate Avanti. She was the only source of strength to recover from the irreparable loss. Mr. Yash Birla decided to tie a knot with Avanti. Avanti completely comes from a different Maharashtrian culture, and hence, becoming ‘Gharki Bahu’ was a challenging upliftment in her life.

Mrs. Avanti Birla observed as a passive spectator, helplessly, in light of the fact that she could not identify what he was going through, and didn’t generally concur with his methods. In this case, she did the best following thing as a steady supportive partner could: She went along with him on the path of desperate wanting.

FILLING THE EMPTY SPACE

Pain, trauma, and loneliness were predominant until the house bought some light of happiness. Yash Birla and Avanti Birla were blessed with their first son in the year 1992 named Vedant, the second son in the year 1994 named Nirvaan, and the third lovely girl in Year 2002 named Shloka.

Now, the ‘Empty Mansion’ was filled with love, concern, and happiness.

Mr. Yash Birla started to bloom as a father who was more concerned, protective, and possessive about his daughter Shloka Birla, the youngest member of the family.

In a filled space of happiness and trust family members share and discuss everything together. They share equal parts of responsibilities, happiness, and love amongst each other.

As the couple indulged themselves in spirituality, regional, traditional, and cultural beliefs, the same is inherited in their children. Rather than spending holidays abroad, the family spends their holiday time meditating, hiking, and visiting religious destinations across India.

All three offspring of the Birla family are staunch believers of the power of spirituality. The children devote a lot of time in prayers and for the betterment of the mind, body & soul.

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY

With all his kids grown up, now Mr. Yash Birla is eased up. But he thinks about the legacy of the family that should continue.

The Yash Birla Group owns more than 20 companies since 1858. They have set a goal of continuing the legacy of handing over the responsibility of carrying the duty as the leaders to his sons Vedant and Nirvaan.

The eldest son Vedant Birla, the chairman of Yash Birla Group, has taken it upon himself to revolutionize with personal and professional experience with his venture (BPT) across India under the leadership of Mr. Yash Birla.

The younger son Nirvaan Birla is the Director of Birla Open Minds and heads the education vertical of  Yash Birla Group. He considers it an advantage to be a part of the 150-year old Birla legacy. He shoulders a national responsibility of educating the children and enjoys having the ability to reach such countless lives and making a difference. He wholeheartedly believes in using the assets he has been furnished with for sharing one thing that holds the ability to take the country forward – education.
