Shiv Narayan Birla was the father of Baldeo Das Birla. His main focus was to set up a business. In the early 19th century he established a business to export goods (mainly cotton) from Bombay to England and other countries. Shiv Narayana Birla was one of the early Indian traders to participate in this cotton trade.

Baldeo Das Birla took over his father’s interest in taking his business to success. He established Shivnarayan Baldevdas, a trading house based in Bombay. Later, he shifted to Kolkata along with his family and settled there. He had four children, which he never knew could be the mirror for success in today’s phase. Baldeo Das was succeeded by four sons Jugal Kishor, Rameshwar Das Birla, Ghanshyam Das Birla, and Brij Mohan Birla.

Let us all know further about these four successful kids. The eldest amongst the four was Jugal Kishor. 

Jugal Kishor

Jugal Kishor never got married so there were no children to him. Hence, he decided to adopt Lakshmi Niwas, son of Ghanshyam Das Birla who took his family ahead.

Rameshwar Das Birla

Rameshwar Das Birla( 1892–1973) was an Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist. He was the second son of Baldeo Das Birla and the father of Madhav Prasad Birla and Gajanan Birla. He is known for establishing hospitals & educational institutions in Mumbai, Pilani, and Kolkata. Mr. Rameshwar Das Birla was blessed with one grandchild Ashok Birla whose father was Gajanan Birla. Ashok Birla was the founder of the Yash Birla Group, which is managed by his son Yashovardhan Birla popularly known as Yash Birla. 

Ashok Birla had immensely flourished his company in different industrial sectors that gave the company an international phase. Yash Birla Group is an Indian industrial conglomerate based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The group has diversified interest in industries like steel pipes, machine tools, cutting tools, tool holders, iron castings, power solutions, products, multipurpose engines pumps, electrical appliances, textiles, carpets, furnishing, lifestyle, InfoTech, publication, travel, electricity, property development, cotton ginning, etc. 

The Group traces its origins to the businesses started by various members of the Birla family. The group today has 10 publicly listed subsidiaries in India. Yash Birla married Avanti Birla and they were blessed with three children – Vedant Birla, Nirvaan Birla, and Shloka Birla. Both his sons are the CEO of the different companies in the Yash Birla Group.

Ghanshyam Das Birla 

The magnate’s son Ghanshyam Das Birla also known as GD Birla became a father of three children- Lakshmi Niwas, Krishna Kumar and Basant Kumar. Later, Lakshmi Niwas was adopted by GD Birla’s elder brother Jugal Birla.

Both his sons took over the family business. Krishna Kumar Birla was blessed with three girls, and Basant Kumar Mangalam was blessed with two daughters and one son. Aditya Kumar Birla was the only son of Basant Kumar Birla who took the Aditya Birla Group to an international platform. Today, The Aditya Birla Group is managed by his son Kumar Mangalam Birla, who is not only considered to be a successful entrepreneur but also the face of the Birla Family.

The last and the youngest son of Baldeo Das Birla was Brij Mohan Birla. Brij Mohan Birla and his wife became parents to three children – son, Ganga Prasad Birla, daughter Gangabai Birla, and Lekabai Birla. With all the blessing and happiness, the only son of Ganga Prasad Birla, CK Birla, was introduced to the legacy to take it forward.
